pasture_raised_beefOnce again, I heard the news about some massive ground beef recall the other day and had to shake my head in disgust. There is no way a grass-fed beef can even have e-coli! It is a bacteria that develops in the rumen of grain-fed cattle. These outbreaks are just symptoms of a cruel and downright stupid system, which bunches cattle by the tens of thousands, requires the use of antibiotics, promotes the use of synthetic hormones, and feeds unnatural feed. Think about it; if toxic materials poured on a beef make the meat so bad that it’s natural parasites will not eat it, should we? We think NOT at Laurel Creek Farm!

Perhaps one reason our food production systems have gotten so screwed up is the lack of contact between farmer and consumer. When I hand you a package of ground beef I look you in the eye, knowing that not only will my beef not put your children in the hospital, it will help make them healthier. It is a good feeling for all involved.
